ALKAN-ZIMMERMAN
INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION


 

 

  1. The 1st C.V. ALKAN - P.J.G. ZIMMERMAN INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITON will be held in Athens, 2-8 April 2012. The exact dates and time of the preliminary and semifinal rounds will be announced soon. The first and second rounds will be held at the Theatre of the Municipality of Kallithea (123 Filaretou Str., Kallithea). The final round will be held at the Athens Concert Hall (Mitropoulos Hall), on Sunday the 8th of April 2012 (evening).
  2. Any pianist born after the 1st of January 1982, may apply to the Competition.
  3. The sequence in which the pieces shall be played is up to every candidate.
  4. All works performed during the Competition must be played from memory.
  5. Candidates must provide the jury with the scores of their program, in the edition they are going to use.
  6. Compositions with multiple movements must be played integrally, with the exception of those compositions that are normally only partially executed in concerts (e.g. Brahms-Paganini: first or second book etc.) 
  7. The jury may interrupt the competitor during the first two rounds if they believe that it is necessary. The jury have the right, during all rounds, to ask the competitor not to execute one or more works.
  8. A draw for date and order of performance will be carried out. The participants or their representatives should be present during the draw. The exact date and time of the draw will be announced soon.
  9. Application Forms must be mailed the latest till Monday the 12th of March 2012, to the ALKAN-ZIMMERMAN INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION, attention of  Mrs Eleni- Letti Pappa, Despere 3, 54621, Thessaloniki.    
  10. An entry fee of 70 Euros is payable to J. Carreras Club of Greece, EMPORIKI BANK, Account no. 59565940, ΙBAN GR 4601200360000000059565940.  The payment of bank charges and (if required) commission for conversion into Euros is the responsibility of the applicant. The entry fee is not refundable.
  11. Applicants must send a certified copy of a birth certificate or other legal document stating their age and nationality. A curriculum vitae and recent photograph should also be sent with the application.
  12. All rounds are open to the public. The entrance to the first two rounds is  free. Tickets for the last round can be bought from the Box Office of the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron), three weeks before the date of the final round.
  13. The recording and filming rights of all the rounds belong to the competition organizers.
  14. It is prohibited to record or film during the competition.
  15. The organizers reserve the right to make reasonable changes to the schedule and the program.
  16. All decisions of the Jury are final and are not subject to question.
